pick up trash

Pick up Trash

What is the harm of mismanaged garbage?

Improper disposal of trash can lead to Soil, Water, and Air contamination, as well as lead to more extreme weather and harm to animal and marine life.

How do I help?

Some options.

There always seems to be some trash floating around in parking lots, scoop it up and put it in the trash bin at the entrance of wherever you are headed.

Take a walk in your community with 2 bags and pick up everything that should not be there. One for garbage and one for recycling.

Organize with your community or friends to coordinate areas covered.

Volunteer to pick up after a picnic or county fair.

How do I protect myself during pickup?

Watch out for poison ivy, metals, chemicals, or other potential hazards. You may want to grab the gloves, trash or grabbing tools, long pants, rubbing alcohol, Band-Aids, sunscreen, water, soap, and little helpers.
